Earlier, the franchise team of Melbourne played two finals of BBL. But both times their journey ended becoming runners up. In the last season of Big Bash, the played the final. But against Melbourne Renegades, they faced a heartbroken defeat. This time, they seem desperate for the title. Already the team has played 11 matches in group level and managed the highest ten victories. With the highest 20 points, Melbourne Stars are holding the top position. Earlier today, they have faced Perth Scorchers. And won the match by 10 runs. Including the victory, Melbourne Stars beat Scorchers 2nd time in BBL 2019/20!
At the home venue of Melbourne Stars named Melbourne Cricket Ground, the match between Stars and Scorchers took place. The local team won the toss and decided to bat first. The Aussie destructive batsman Glenn Maxwell is the captain of the team Stars.
Melbourne Stars could not start the match well though Hilton Cartwright and Marcus Stoinis were the openers. Hilton Cartwright played good innings out there. He scored 58 runs highest. Later, three top orders failed to touch two figure runs. Captain Maxwell scored 25 runs and Nick Larkin scored 24 runs so far. In 20 overs, Stars lost 6 wickets but scored 41 runs. Scorchers successfully stopped them early. Matthew Kelly took three wickets for the guest team.
Later, Perth Scorchers came to chase. The top six players of the team good runs. Just could not make their innings longer. Their highest scorer is Cameron Bancroft who added 32 runs so far. They also played 20 overs. But failed to chase the score. Losing 9 wickets, they scored 131 runs so far.
