Copa America 2020 will be delayed for a year!

Coronavirus is continuing it’s fearing activities around the world. Now, after the UEFA Euro 2020, Copa America 2020 will be delayed for a year! Only because of the deadly Coronavirus, the sporting events in the world are almost deadlocked. As a result, Copa America 2020 has been postponed as well. In Argentina and Colombia, the upcoming Copa America was about to take place from the 12th June 2020 to 12th July 2020.

Now, reportedly, the Latin American most prestigious football competition Copa America 2020 will be delayed for a year! According to the schedule, it will start in next 11th June 2021.

Copa America is the 3rd most prestigious football competition in the world. After the FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro, Copa America is the most popular event. But to the South American football fans, it is the 2nd most popular football tournament. At the same time, it is one of the oldest competitions so far. Now, the tournament’s schedule has changed. Due to the deadly Coronavirus, earlier today, through the official website, the South American Football Federation CONMEBOL has revealed the news. They have postponed it for a year.

Like the other events, to reduce the infection, the CONMEBOL president Alejandro Dominguez has taken the decision after discussing with the others. The new schedule says it will start in next 11th June to 11th July 2020. The decision was not easy to take. But still, they have to take the necessary steps to secure their players and the family of South American football. As one of the oldest football competition in the world, Copa America will return in next 2021 with strong and new looks, he added.

The last season of the tournament Copa America took place in the year of 2019. And Brazil was the host nation. The local team won the title by defeating Peru in the final by a 3 – 1 goal.
